Prof. Ashis Kumar Mukherjee is a biotechnology researcher and academic leader, and a founding faculty member of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Tezpur University, where he has significantly contributed to developing biotechnology education and research in Northeast India.
Over his academic career, he has served in several key leadership roles, including Head of Department, Coordinator of national research programs, Dean (R&D), and Director of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, while also mentoring numerous PhD and postgraduate researchers.
His research focuses on venom proteomics, toxin characterization, antivenom development, and translational applications of venom-derived biomolecules, leading to advancements in diagnostics, region-specific antivenom strategies, and potential therapeutic drug candidates.
Prof. Mukherjee is a widely published scientist and fellow of multiple national and international academies, with extensive contributions to global snakebite research initiatives and biomedical research capacity-building in India.
